Two years in, their insurance had quietly lapsed

A carrier we'd run with for two years. You stop checking people like that, because why would you. I had a reefer of produce ready to hand them, Nogales to Phoenix, and out of pure habit I glanced at their record first. Insurance showed inactive. Lapsed a couple weeks back, and I'd bet they didn't even know. We held the load two days until they sorted it out, then ran it, no drama.
